Blanching a fruit or vegetable is the simple act of briefly cooking the food in boiling water, then shocking it by cooling it in an ice bath. This preserves the color, texture and flavor of your food while loosening the skin. Never blanched a peach before? Here are the simple instructions:Slice a shallow “X” on the bottom of your peach with a sharp knife. This creates a designated area for the skin to shrink back and separate from the flesh.Place your peaches in a pot of boiling water, and don’t crowd your pan! 4-5 peaches at a time is a good amount.After 60 seconds, remove peaches from the pot and add them to a bowl of ice water for an additional 60 seconds. The ice water shocks the peel and allows it to slip right off.Peel your peaches, then slice and dice to your heart’s content! 🍑❤️

We love them all but what’s realllllly the difference between JAM, JELLY, and PRESERVES?? Plain and simple- the key differences lie in the fruit content and texture: jam has fruit chunks, jelly is smooth and clear, and preserves have large fruit pieces.But to expand a little: 1-Jam: Made from crushed or chopped fruit mixed with sugar and pectin, jam has a thicker, spreadable consistency with bits of fruit throughout.2-Jelly: Made from fruit juice, sugar, and pectin, jelly is clear and smooth, with no fruit pieces. It has a gelatinous texture.3-Preserves: Made from whole fruit or large chunks of fruit, sugar, and pectin, preserves have a chunky, syrupy texture.
