Chocolate-Safe Flavor Oils

Can you add flavor to chocolate? Yes! But, depending on the ingredients, some flavorings will make the chocolate seize into a lumpy mess. It isn’t a fun scenario and we don’t want you ruining your batch of chocolate this way. So we’re providing you with a simplified list of chocolate-safe flavor oils you can use for your gourmet popcorn and many other chocolate treats. These are the tried and true options to use with your chocolate:

  • Anise Oil
  • Blood Orange Oil
  • Cinnamon Oil
  • Clove Oil
  • Eucalyptus Oil
  • Ginger Oil
  • Grapefruit Oil
  • Hot Chili Oil
  • Lavender Oil
  • Lemon Oil
  • Lemongrass Oil
  • Lime Oil
  • Nutmeg Oil
  • Orange Oil
  • Peppermint Oil
  • Rosemary Oil
  • Spearmint Oil
  • Tangerine Oil

All you do is melt the chocolate to the desired temperature or temper it, then stir the flavoring into the melted chocolate. It’s best to add the minimum amount and then add more to taste. Once the flavor is mixed in, the chocolate is ready to use.

**Disclaimer** Lorann Oils is the brand name of the flavors we carry at Gygi; however, it doesn’t mean all the flavorings are oil-based and chocolate-safe. This has confused so many of our clients. So please be sure, no matter what flavorings you are looking at, to simply check the ingredient list and only use oil-based flavors for chocolate.
