Come, join us in the kitchen!

Ever notice the self-cleaning feature on your oven Ever notice the self-cleaning feature on your oven? Even though your oven has this feature-DO NOT (we repeat) DO NOT use it. This is something we try and share every year. This feature has the potential to RUIN your oven.

Here's why:
- It exposes the oven to dangerous temperatures of over 880°F
- Every time you run the cycle, it wears down your oven
- One manufacturer even told us that most ovens can withstand only four self cleaning cycles before being fried
- It is so stinky and can actually release toxic fumes

After helping hundreds of customers through the years, we've seen this happen too many times. And if this announcement prevents even one broken oven, it is worth it. Broken glass. Fumes. Destroyed internal thermometer. Fried motherboard. It is just too risky!!!

We get it. You feel betrayed. "Why have a self-cleaning cycle if it's bad for the oven?"

Two main reasons:
1. Consumers want the self cleaning feature and ovens without them don't sell as well
2. If your oven breaks, you buy a new one! Yay for the manufacturer. Boo for you.

Luckily, we did some testing to find a better alternative to the self-cleaning cycle and feel very confident we have the easiest and best way to clean your oven and can’t wait to share it. Stay tuned!!!

Let’s clean the stovetop! We don’t know about Let’s clean the stovetop! We don’t know about you, but we can be messy cooks. And stuff is constantly collecting on our cooktops—grease, noodles, mac n cheese powder. All. The. Things.

Luckily cleaning it all up doesn’t have to be an ordeal. First, wipe off all the loose crumbs and food. Next, spray the surface with water. Apply powder cleanser (BKF) and let is sit for a couple of minutes. Then scrub, scrub, scrub and repeat an application of powder if necessary. Finish by rinsing off and wiping down with clear water. Done!

Come clean with us! If you send us a DM of a before and after picture of your clean cooktop you will be entered to win a $25 gift card to Gygi. Winner to be announced next Monday.

Welcome to the first day of spring!!! Anyone else Welcome to the first day of spring!!! Anyone else scratching the cleaning itch today? It feels so,so good to start fresh.

One of our favorite tools for cleaning is Bar Keepers Friend (BKF). It has blown our minds and has so many useful applications.

What is the magic, active ingredient? Oxalic acid! It breaks down the bonds of stains like rust and lime deposits on a molecular level. And it is no wonder we are completely obsessed! Read the blog linked in the bio to find out more about why this product works so well.

The dishwasher needs to be cleaned? What?!? Yes, i The dishwasher needs to be cleaned? What?!? Yes, if you want it to do it’s job well and not smell, the dishwasher needs some love and attention once in a while. Luckily the job is so easy!

Cut down grime using a citric acid, vinegar, or lemon juice. For dry ingredients (citric acid) put it in the detergent dispenser like normal. For liquid ingredients (vinegar or lemon juice), put a cup right side up in the top rack. Then run a short cycle and rinse. It’s that easy.

The last steps include wiping down the inside edges with some vinegar and a wet rag, cleaning the sprayer arm, and then following manufacture instructions to remove and clean the filter. Pro tip—don’t use any foaming dish soap to clean the inside of your dish washer or you will have a bubble party the next time you do dishes in it.

Don’t forget to DM your before and after photos for the chance at a $25 Gygi gift card. Winner announced Monday.
