Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of french bread from the grocery store bakery
  • Cooking spray or butter
  • 1 cup marinara or tomato basil sauce
  • 3-4 cups shredded cheese (mozzarella and cheddar are great!)
  • Toppings- pepperoni, sauteed bell peppers and onions, olives, mushrooms, diced tomatoes, ham, pineapple, etc.
  • Marinara Sauce Ingredients:
  • 1 14 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1

Cut your french bread loaf in half lengthwise, then slice into 6” individual slices. Spray the bottom of each slice with cooking spray, or coat with a thin layer of butter.

2

Heat your grill to medium heat.

3

Spread a couple tablespoons of sauce on each slice, then top with your desired amount of cheese.

4

Add toppings of your choice. Don’t stack it too high, or the bottom of the bread will burn before your toppings all heat through!

5

Place your pizzas on top of your grill grates, then close the lid of your grill. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until your cheese has melted and your toppings are heated through. If the bottom starts to get charred at any point, turn your grill down. You can also cook these on aluminum foil or a grill pan.

6

Marinara Sauce:

7

Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan.

8

Bring to a boil, then lower to a simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

9

Good on pasta, pizza, or as a dipping sauce.
